Stella Maris Dive Site at LionsDive Beach Resort

Ideally located inside the Curaçao National Marine Park, the Stella Maris Reef is the house reef of LionsDive Beach Resort and Ocean Encounters Diving. This site is named the Stella Maris shipwreck located on deep water plateau far below the shallow water coral nurseries set up by Reef Renewal Curaçao.

What makes this dive site so special is the abundant health of the beautiful fringing reef system due to the constant easterly currents pushing rich nutrients along the shoreline.

Support Coral Restoration at the Stella Maris

Reef Renewal Curaçao is an initiative of Ocean Encounters and supported by the community, sponsors, volunteers and Reef Renewal International. The main objectives of this program are the restoration of our shallow water reef system, educating the community and protecting and preserving Curaçao’s natural ecosystems.

“The significance of this Curacao reef restoration program is that together as a community here on Curacao, we are restoring our shallow water reef system while educating our youth about the importance of protecting and preserving our natural ecosystem.”

Unlimited Shore Diving in Curacao

Curacao is laid out in a way that makes the southern side of the island almost perfect for shore diving. Thanks to the geographic location, the winds in the area come from the Northeast, meaning that almost the entire southern shoreline is protected from heavy sea winds. The lack of strong winds means that divers can get their feet wet almost any time of year, and the diving from shore is calmer and safer.
