Last update before arriving in Curacao...
February 8, 2010

From Christian to Tanya;
Just got a call from Christian - he wanted to knwo the wind and wave conditions for Curacao tomororw.

we spoke at 6.30pm Curacao time and they were 231 natuical miles from Curacao travelling at 15 knots. Location 15 degrees 54.9 north and 58 degrees 30.8 west. They are travelling 183 degrees south.

The journey so far has been easy from Punta Cana. Very good seas... only 2-3 foot swells. He spent 5 hours reading his book!

He was pleased with the weather forcast for Curacao that we gave him.

If they continue at their current speed they will be in Curacao in 15 hours! They will only slow down if they hit bad weather.

All the crew are fine, and here in Curacao we're counting down the hours!

LAST LEG.... COMING HOME
2-7-10
They arrived at Punta Cana this morning at 8am after a quicker journey than expected. It only took then 19 hours with very good seas. He said it was an easy ride, and much quicker than they expected. They were doing 15 1/2 to 16 knots the entire time.

Once they arrived in Punta Cana they cleaned the boat, ate then hired a golf cart to drive round teh local area. They were disapointed to find most places closed and hardly any people around.
It's the same Marina they stayed at in 2007 when they were with the Galaxy.

This evening they were going to change various filters on the boat- oil, fuel, air breather and the racor filters. Then they were going to have dinner before settling down to sleep. This will be their last night of rest before the final leg of the journey back to Curacao.

The plan to leave Punta Cana Sunday at 7am and travel the 420 nautical miles back to Curacao. They hope to arrive around noon on Tuesday,

The sea and wind forecasts for the next week are not good, so the journey will be uncomfortable but manageable.

He said the crew were all doing great.

We look forward to their safe return very soon!

Feb-3-2010
Christian called this morning around 8.30am Curacao time. It took them 11 hours to get from Fort Lauderdale to Nassau on almost completely flat seas. They arrived in Nassau about 10pm, had a rum and coke then slept.
This morning it was freezing, but as the sun started to come up the crew warmed up nicely.

They were just fueling the boat, then setting out on the next leg of the trip. Crossing in the Exuma Cays, on the west side in the shallows. They plan to stop at Staniel Cay to refuel before going to Provo. Should take about 8 hours to Staniel Cay - midpoint in the Exuma Cays.

Chris and crew sounded happy and rested.

That's all for today!
